How do you select multiple photos on social media?

  1. Open the social app and tap the plus button to start a new post.
  2. In the photo grid, tap the icon with two overlapping squares to switch on multi-select.
  3. Tap the first photo you want. A number 1 appears on its corner.
  4. Tap each next photo in order. The numbers 2, 3 and so on follow.
  5. Tap a numbered photo again to remove it. The remaining numbers close up.
  6. Tap Next, review the slides, add the caption and share.

How many photos can you select?

Up to 20 in one post, since the 2024 expansion. A carousel can mix photos and videos. The first item you pick sets the ratio of the whole post, so choose a photo that matches the ratio you want, and the carousel size guide explains which ratios exist.

Why does the order matter?

The numbers are the slide order, and the social app applies them from slide 1 up. If you tap in the wrong sequence, the slides come out in that sequence. For a set of photos that tell a day, a wrong order is a small annoyance. For a panorama split into panels, the whole picture breaks. The guide to changing carousel order explains what can and cannot be fixed after posting.

How do you select photos in the right order every time?

Prepare the photos so they sit together in an album, in the order you want, and then tap them in that order. For a panorama made in a splitter, the panels are saved as one batch with panel 1 first. In Seamfold the app saves panel 1 first, so in the composer you tap them from the first to the last. The in-app help screen says to pick panels in order.

If your album shows the newest photo first, as most phones do, the panels will look reversed. The last panel is then at the top-left and panel 1 is at the end of the batch. Tap from the end of the batch back toward the top, or sort the album by oldest first.

What if the multi-select icon is missing?

Make sure you are on the Post tab and not the Story or short video tab. The icon appears in the lower right corner of the photo preview in the new post screen. In some versions, pressing and holding a photo also starts the selection. If neither works, update the app, restart it and check that it has access to your photos in the iPhone settings.

Why can't I see all my photos?

iOS lets you give an app access to only some photos. If the social app has limited access, only the photos you chose appear. In the iPhone's Settings, open the social app, then Photos, and switch to all photos, or add more to the selection. This setting belongs to iOS, so look for the social app entry in the iPhone Settings app and its Photos option. Seamfold takes the opposite approach: it uses the system photo picker and does not ask for access to your whole library.

Why were my photos cropped?

The post takes the shape of the first photo, then applies it to the rest. A tall photo first and a wide one second means the wide one is cropped. Pinch a slide in the preview to change the crop for that slide only. For a continuous panorama, do not pinch, since that shifts the seams. Prepare all photos at the same ratio before you select them.

Can you select multiple photos from different albums?

In the picker, you can browse to another album and keep adding photos while the numbers stay in place. But switching can reset the selection in some versions, so it is safer to collect everything in one album first. On the iPhone, create a new album in the Photos app, add the picks, and open that album in the social app. It takes a minute and removes the risk of losing the selection halfway.

How do you prepare photos for the best result?

Edit the photos before you open the social app. Crop them to one ratio, such as 4:5, so nothing is cut unexpectedly. Check the first photo carefully, because it becomes the cover of the post and also the tile in the profile grid, which shows a 3:4 window, as the grid crop guide explains. Apply a light edit to the set, so colors agree. Then remove near duplicates, and keep only the shots that add something.

If you built the set in a splitter, the panels are already the same size, so they need no crop. Do not enlarge or re-crop them in the composer.

What if the photos are Live Photos or HDR?

Live Photos are shared as stills in a normal post unless you choose otherwise, and HDR photos are converted to a standard format on upload. These conversions are usually harmless. If you care about exact looks, export the set to ordinary images first. For a panorama carousel, always use still images. See the guide to a blurry carousel for the effect of repeated conversions on sharpness.

What about selecting many photos fast in the Photos app?

Photos has its own multi-select: tap Select, then tap or drag a finger across photos to pick a run of them. This is handy for building an album, but it does not set the order inside the social app. The order in the social app comes only from your taps there. So use Photos to collect the set and the social app to arrange it. After sharing, you can remove the album or keep it as a record of the post.

Habits that avoid mistakes

  • Collect the photos in one album first.
  • Number or name the files so they sort correctly.
  • Select in order, from the first slide to the last.
  • Look at the numbers on the corners before tapping Next.
  • Swipe through the preview once.
  • Keep the original ratio of prepared panels.
